Riding the Swell of Chaos

“You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void but out of chaos.”― Mary Shelley

“I finally figured out that not every crisis can be managed. As much as we want to keep ourselves safe, we can’t protect ourselves from everything. If we want to embrace life, we also have to embrace chaos.” ― Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Breathing Room

One of the most memorable myths for me in Greek Mythology is the story of Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur.  This story depicts a time when the power of the Goddess was waning as patriarchal forces began to dominate and shape culture and beliefs.  To keep a long myth short – Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos of Crete fell in love with handsome Theseus from Athens, who went into the King’s labyrinth to find and kill her half-brother the Minotaur.  The Minotaur had been banished into the tangled darkness of the labyrinth.  And each year children from the defeated nation of Athens were sacrificed and sent in to be killed and eaten by him to quell his rage at being isolated and alone. Theseus took it upon himself to rid the world of this diabolical creature as none other could; they were lost forever in the labyrinth (and perished) or were destroyed at the hands of the Minotaur.  Adriane aided Theseus by giving him a ball of thread to follow into and out of the labyrinth so he would not go astray.

A labyrinth is a metaphorical symbol for our psycho spiritual journey through our life and for those of us that surrender to the journey we follow its twists and turns, leading us step by step into dead ends, surprises, fears, frustration, opportunity, and anticipation.  A Minotaur is a man with the head of a bull and represents our masculine shadow self; our inner masculine chaos and darkness – he is the wild, beastial, sexual, raging, angry, aggressive and instinctual part of one’s self that most bury and will not look at.  He also represents the fear that we hold of what lurks in our masculine unconscious.  In our culture we placate him through addictions, materialism, distractions and pleasant facades or allow him to mis-use his power to destroy, maim, hurt and degrade.

The are many archetypal lessons for me in this story- the key one is that Theseus did slay the Minotaur, but in doing so he killed and therefore separated himself from this part of his nature – there was therefore no resolution with his shadow self as he disowned it.  Adriane in aiding him also did the same.  So it is no surprise that afterward when the two went away together Theseus ended up abandoning Adriane on some god forsaken island on his way back to Athens.  He lost interest in her as his passion and wildness waned…he abandoned his feminine …his inner masculine and feminine were cleaved in two…and so we are today in this state of duality and unrest within ourselves.

There is a further point to my interpretation of this myth – that since September we have been plugged into the shadowy chaos of our own Minotaur and it is up to us to tame and accept him if we want to become more whole and bring in further co-creative consciousness. In order for us to become impassioned again, to conjure up that which fills our masculine wildness with a burning desire to regenerate and rebuild our world instead of destroy, we must also learn to reason with our inner Minotaur.  To ride the swell of this beastial chaos and direct his firey shadow into empowered will despite all the calamity going on in and around us.  We must also be brave enough to face this unruly darkness and sit with the increasingly overwhelming feelings of frustration and anger that are replacing apathy or denial.  To heal we must understand what these dark emotions are telling us, to use them to find courage, and deepen our sense of purposeful action and self-love.  The good news is that rage and anger are much more empowering than fear – and as we move through our ascension process we are letting go of more of our fear and embracing the fury.  In December we climb astride our Minotaur and ride out in full charge.  Where we direct him during these unpredictable times is up to us.

In service,

Samantha

Physical and Psycho spiritual symptoms and predictions for December:  Our emotional highs and lows will continue to escalate as we face our Minotaur self.  You will find that generally you feel better in the morning and more emotional at night.  All of this processing is very draining and you will need more rest, so nap when you can and get to bed early!  The old structures in our world will continue to break down faster and you will feel the rumbling of deep patterns within you shaking loose.  As you try to grasp onto something familiar it will fall away.  As you make plans or start on a new project it may take twists and turns, and calamity may ensue.  It’s important to trust your inner knowing and projects that align with your highest good and are for the betterment of humanity require you to stay the course!  On the positive side this will continue to bring in new life, more illumination, new ideas, and transformation for you.  You need to rethink everything!  So take your anger and rage and direct it outward to something creative and new.  Surge forward, rethink, surge forward again, re-group, rest, surge forward – toward more freedom and power.  And where ever the barriers come up use the lesson to grow into a better version of yourself and toss aside the old.

We are entering the nitty gritty of ascension reality in December so I will be honest and say that 2016 will not be a cakewalk.  However remember that as the old rigid power of the few breaks down there is hope for the NEW.  Hold onto faith and trust in the cosmic process; dig in deeper with your soulful knowing.

Deep down we are tired and exhausted to the core, however there will be spurts of energy at times.  Nourish your body with warming foods.  Our Thymus, lymph system, sinuses and chest will take a hit this month.  Headaches will come off and on as we rewire and rethink our reality.  We will have liver issues, red sticky/gummy eyes, gallbladder issues and general digestion issues.  Use deep immune herbs for support such as Shitake, Maitake, Reishi, Astragalus and Echinacea. Increase your Vitamin D to at least 4000IU a day – it is getting very dark this time of year.
